Thomas “Tom” Paul Schmitt, Esquire, formed his own law firm, Florida Personal Injury Law Team, because he desired to practice law differently from other law firms he had worked for in the past. He wanted his primary focus to be on “the client”, not on the law firm, and only by owning his own firm was he able to bring this desire to fruition. Mr. Schmitt opened the first office of Florida Personal Injury Law Team in Orlando, Florida in 2018. The Firm’s Orlando offices are in the Regents Bank Building on South Kirkman Road.

Mr. Schmitt is a native Floridian who was born in Miami and has lived in Florida for his entire life. He was raised in Palm Beach County and attended all schools in the Sunshine State. In 1985, Mr. Schmitt attended Exeter College, Oxford University on an ESU/Rhodes Scholarship.
Mr. Schmitt is a member in good standing of The Florida Bar, the American Bar Association, the Florida Justice Association (Eagle Member during many years) and the Central Florida Trial Lawyers’ Association. He was formerly a member of the Martin County Bar Association and the Palm Beach County Bar Association. He has served on both the Judicial Professionalism Committee for the 15th Judicial Circuit, Florida, and the Judicial Relations Committee of the Palm Beach County Bar Association. He is a former Director of the Young Lawyer’s Division of the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers. He is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and All Courts of the State of Florida.

Formerly, Mr. Schmitt practiced law on the Treasure Coast for nearly a decade, and he is proud to have recently opened a brand-new office of Florida Personal Injury Law Team, in Port St. Lucie. Mr. Schmitt is proud to once again represent injured clients on the Treasure Coast. He is especially proud of his team of lawyers and paralegals, among other staff members, and he has regularly expressed his appreciation for having been blessed with such an honest, compassionate, experienced, loyal and hard-working staff. Tom is an accomplished pianist, vocalist, sketch artist, and ballroom dancer. For most of his life, he has been an avid boater and has been the proud owner of many speed boats, small fishing boats, large sport fishing boats, and sport yachts over his lifetime. Mr. Schmitt lives on a ranch on the Palatlakaha River in Groveland, Florida with his loving wife Lekky, and his precocious 3-year-old son Paulie and newborn son Peter, where they enjoy wide open spaces, fresh air, the sounds of horses, birds, crickets, frogs, alligators, roosters, and an occasional cow. They cherish the ever-present star-filled skies, and the picturesque sunsets. The Schmitt family also resides part-time in their home on Hutchinson Island, where they can enjoy the Atlantic Ocean with its beautiful sunrises.
